Jewellery Luxury Jewellery Verifine Jewellery

Verifine Stacking Eternity Rings || MagpieMagpie Jewellery

12/08/2018

This brand is fastly becoming one of my favourite luxury jewellery brands! Verifine, they say it’s all in the name , is delicate luxury jewellery made for a woman who likes to change up her look and layer her jewellery. She can be minimal or a bit more OTT but ALWAYS elegant!

Each piece is made with high quality 18ct gold and precious stones which are micro pave set. They are everyday pieces, but as with everything that is delicate, care needs to be taken! If you are very heavy handed with your jewellery they might not be for you. For me what stands out most about Verifine against other stacking rings brands is the colour variety, a lot of other brands seem to play it safe. The best thing about colour is that peoples tastes vary, so the combinations are endless. The quality of the jewellery is second to none, with other brands there items are so delicate they can’t even be worn, this isn’t the case with Verifine. As I mentioned above if you are a bit heavy handed this style of jewellery might not be for you.

Today I’m going to be taking you through my little collection of thin stacking full eternity rings!

I’ve got a hybrid of the Three Rose Set, meaning I got this set but chose to have the diamonds set in white gold rather than rose, and all of mine are full eternity rings. I was keen to go for a  full eternity as I liked that the stones would be always be visible and I wouldn’t have to worry about trying to line then up when they would move about.

Halo Face MakeUp Remover Skincare

Face Halo | MagpieMagpie Skincare

15/07/2018

Face Halo “cloth” is a game changer! You might remember from my new years resolutions I was keen to cut down on waste and be better for the environment.

My first port of call was cotton wool! I changed to the boots organic range which I was happy with but felt I was using so much of it!

Enter Annie with her fantastic skincare finds!

Annie, is a friend from my old job, who was very kind and got me a few ‘sorry your leaving’ gifts and in this delightful collection were the Face Halo. They were something I’d never heard of, but literally the perfect gift, thanks Annie!

Basically you add water and it wipes off all your makeup! Sounds too good to be true right… I thought to myself, they must be full of chemicals, I’ll have to replace them all the time, they won’t do what they say they can. Well how wrong I was!

They are great! You can use them with warm or cold water, but for me using cold water just didn’t feel right. So warm water it was. I just wiped it over my face like a cotton pad and watch the magic happen. They are so impressive. The best part is you are not using unnecessary chemicals of your skin AND after use you just pop them in the washing machine (with light colours… unfortunately one of mine is now grey 🙁 ) ready to reuse again and again. The Who behind the “WHO AM I” Skipton Open Art Studios 2018 || An interview with Sarah Taylor

24/06/2018

You may not know this, but I actually have an Art Degree in Fine Art Print Making. So when I found out about the Skipton Open Art Studio (opening today) you guys know I was all over it!

One of the best thing about this type of event is that it encourages people who may not have a background in art to explore and get involved in a non judgmental environment. There is so much going on in the event there is bound to be something for everyone. Your likely to have a “wow I didn’t expect to enjoy that, but I’m so glad we decided to have a look” moment.

This post is dedicated to an exhibition that really spoke to me. When it comes to art the ‘what, why, and who’ interest me most.

Who Am I? is an evolving art installation curated by Sarah Taylor, taking place at Piquet House as part of the Piquet House Takeover.

This project invites members of the public to create a life size collage of who they truly are, from the inside out. Using a range of mediums, including paint, pens, chalk, fabrics, vinyls, wallpapers etc, each individual will be drawn around on a large sheet of paper and is then invited to create their own multi-layered self portrait … an expression of who they feel they truly are.

Reading about Sarah Taylor’s Who Am I? art installation made me super keen to met her and to get to know the person behind the idea.

While at college (what you might call university) my studio work was about escapism. I was keen to know what drives us to it and what makes one person choose a trip to the cinema as an escape and what makes another choose drink or drugs. It’s this fascination with human nature, and my own nature, that had me hooked on Sarah installation. I had a real clear vision in my head of what I’d create but was so fascinated to see what others would do and how.

48 Hours in London

As a little surprise for Jarek I decided to book us a little mini break to London. We lived in London years ago but never really got to enjoy it as our work-life balance was horrendous.

The trip was for Jarek’s 33rd Birthday so I thought it would be cute to book it for his 33 1/3 birthday, there is actually an online calculator you can use to figure this out which I thought was quite cool.

I decided to book most all our excursions though 365 Tickets which is actually based in Jersey, it was super quick and easy but you need to be organised! Its best to have a plan and know what dates/times you wanna do things! And the hotel I chose was the Ambassadors Bloomsbury which is located in Euston, a great central location.

I actually don’t enjoy traveling. I love exploring new places and experiencing new cultures, but hate the packing and the getting there. I get very anxious and just don’t enjoy that bit of the journey. This is why I decided to get a late flight on Friday night and stay over at the Bloc Hotel in Gatwick.

It just meant I had time to adjust and would be ready to tackle our first day in London no problem.

The hotel itself is a bit basic. Tiny rooms, very odd bathroom layout, techy, and not very cozy. This didn’t bother me too much as we were just there to sleep. Usually I’d stay at the Premier Inn, but the price of the Bloc Hotel was better and it was something a little bit different.

BlocHotel

We popped over to Cafe Nero (it’s just outside the hotel) and got a quick bite, then off to the Gatwick Express. If I can I always try to get my train tickets at the south terminal coz they have a desk there where you can actually speak to someone. We got a return ticket and off we went.

Breakfast

We arrived at London Victoria and made our way to the tube. We still had our Oyster Cards and I was sure I had some mula on mine so we went straight through. I hadn’t been on the tube in years but it was like riding a bike. We were at Euston station in no time.

Finding the hotel wasn’t too hard but no one seemed to know where it was and we had no WiFi. London has tourist maps all over the place and I have to say they are a GOD send. We used them a number of times! We got to the hotel, left our bags, I decided to change coz it was a scorcher of a day, and off we went to our first destination, Borough Market.

Hotel

We used our oyster cards for getting around, and I made sure to get one of those little tube maps! I love them. I think we spent about £20 getting around just incase you were wondering.

I love me a good market and Jarek loves food so I thought this would be the perfect first spot to have a little wonder about until we could check into our hotel. There was a little fridge in our hotel room so the plan was to stock up, order some bubbles and have a little hotel picnic that night. We decided to have a super chill rest of the day and just enjoy the hotel room and bath! It was so lovely! And exactly what a romantic mini break is all about!

The next day was a busy one, we had lots to pack in! Our first stop was Hay’s Galleria to do a bit of pottering about before we headed to The Shard.

We had a little wonder, took some photos and had an early lunch before heading over to The View From The Shard. I’d booked it for one which was a bit late to be honest, Euston (where we were staying) was the perfect location for the tube and getting around, but I didn’t know how good it would be when I’d booked it so we had a bit of a late start to the day. If I was booking all over again I’d have actually booked the Shard twice, once early about 11 maybe and once later in the night so we could seen the lights and maybe have a few more cocktails! I’d highly recommend The View From The Shard and will for sure be going again!

Next was The Tower Of London. It’s on the other side so of course we took our chance to check out Tower Bridge too. We really enjoyed The Tower Of London, there was so much to see and do! We both agreed that we could have spent the whole day there exploring, but unfortunately my itinerary didn’t allow that ha ha! I loved seeing the crown jewels and we both really enjoyed the armory, they also had staff dressed up and acting out different scenarios which if we were there all day we could have really enjoyed.

As it was Sunday I thought it might be nice to catch the last mass at St Pauls Cathedral. it’s a Christian faith church just incase you were wondering. I’m not very religious, but its a once in a blue moon opportunity so we thought it might be nice.

The architecture and decore of the Cathedral is just stunning. The next time I’m in London I will be getting a ticket for the whole thing and really exploring. The mass was very nice, but we were so shattered we said we’d head back to the hotel for a nap and a spruce up, then hit Covent Garden for a cocktail. This was the only part of the trip I hadn’t organised, and what a fail!! We ended up just wondering about like idiots and then decided to give up get the bus home (we got a bus right outside the hotel pretty much straight to CG), thankfully on the way back we happened to come across The Delaunay and popped in for a last min cocktail.

Our flight was about four the next day so I had decided to embarrass the anxiety and had book the London Eye for first thing in the morning. It was crazy busy so get in quick if you can. We had to queue to get our tickets and time was stressing me out so we decided to upgrade our ticket and skip the, now massive, queue. It was a very good decision. I think if I was to book this trip again, I’d skip the London Eye and do the Shard twice, but thats just me!

Then a mad dash back to the hotel and off to the airport, we traveled through Gatwick so of course we had to have an early dinner at Jamies! Had to be done ha ha .

I’d taken loads of photos so I hope they give a real feel for what each area was like! I’ve also added in a couple of videos witch I touch would give a better idea of crowds and noise ( this can set off my anxiety sometimes).

New Years Resolutions 2018

17/05/2018

I’ve had quite a tough year so far and I wasn’t really up for putting myself under extra pressure by doing lots of New Year’s Resolutions, but as I’ve started a new job this month and am feeling a bit more back to myself, I decided my New Year will start in June 2018 and so will my new habits!

Many of them are the same as 2017, I found last year to be one of the most difficult and damaging to my mental health and the start of 2018 wasn’t any better, but everything is on the up and I’m excited to step into my new role with positivity. Once I’ve started to put all of the below into practice I know it will give me the drive to create the life I’ve always dreamed of.

1. Get Driving Licence

This has been going on long enough and I hope in a couple of months to start studying, I’m gonna give myself one month of hardcore study and then book in my theory test. This might take a week, or it might take months, either way I’ll get prepared and I’ll aim to be ready no matter what happens.

Driving

2. Do Yoga Everyday

I’ve started back doing Yoga at home and I love it! It’s more for my Mental Health as opposed to fitness. I find we live in a world where people are cruel, mean and just plain wicked. Some think this should be acceptable, I can assure you I do not!!! To help me feel grounded and protect myself, I will be doing yoga every evening after work and in the mornings I will listen to positive affirmations.

If you struggle with your mental health, I urge you to try it. I started with the 30 day yoga challenge with “Yoga with Adriene” and I loved it!

3. Surround Myself with Like Minded people.

I’m a very social person and love meeting and chatting with new people. Over the past 3 years, since moving to Jersey, I’ve found it quite hard to connect with like minded people. This I feel is due to my current lifestyle so I’m keen try new things and join classes in the hopes of broadening my circle.
