I think I’ll end up saying this every time I talk about nail varnish, but it’s a big(ish) part of my life! I don’t usually feel complete without my tan on and my nails done. I also think because of the job I’m in, for me, it’s important to have my nails done. When I look for a nail varnish, I tend to look for colour. Most of the time I stay safe and go for nudes or darker shades but, as it’s getting into summer I’m drawn to the bright and the bold!
You should know by now that I’m all about the Barry M nail paint, all of them to be honest but, most of all the SunSet range. A two-step system where you apply the nail the colour and then the special SunSet top coat that helps the colour to cure in the daylight. When they brought out the Spring collection I was eager to try them and see if I could handle a bit of colour on my tips…
I wasn’t mad on all the colours but since the start of 2016 money (I don’t have) seems to be burning a hole in my pocket so sure I got them all. Just like the other SunSet range they dry quickly, have amazing colour pay off, and last amazingly well as long as you use the SunSet topcoat properly!
The thing I like most about this range is the colours. I mean from the whole range to date as opposed to the spring collection, but I think I can safely say that there is one for everyone! As I said I usually go for the nudes and darker shades. I adore wearing a dark shade on my nails. It’s just a bit more me! I feel like a bit of a fraud when I wear pinks like my sister, ye know… Anyway that being said I think there’s a bright colour for us all, and in the Spring collection the one for me is the mint (Empire state of Mint)! I’m also quite partial to the blue (Bug A Blue) one too, think it would be great with denim.
With all my make-up theres only a few things I want and need. Good price, quick and easy, and last but not least easy to purchase. The last one is a bit harder for me as of late as Jersey is a tricky little island. With Barry M SunSet nail paint I’m in luck. They come in at £4.99 each (I got most of mine on 3 for 2 at Boots), they are quick and easy to use, and Boots stock them. All of this is great, but nothing without the final factor, they dry very quickly. I don’t know about you, but I’ve a TERRIBLE habit of doing my nails and then cleaning or drying my hair, or passing out asleep on my hand, so this factor is a BIG deal for me. It drys soooo fast, I can have two coats of the colour and the top coat done and dry in less than 15 minutes. Don’t know what you thinks about that but I thinks its unreal. I would usually suggest putting on a basecoat on your nails but there is no point with this range, it hinders the curling process and makes the varnish just peel off the nails after abut a day. When everything is applied properly, I find a thin coat of the topcoat is best, it can last about a week. This is unheard of for me! It comes off easily with regular nail varnish remover. It is a bit hard wearing on the nails so, I do try to give my nails about one week off every 3 weeks where I give my hands a bit of pampering. This range is now a staple in my make-up bag and I must say as it stands. It’s the one to beat!
