I’ve been on the hunt for a new drugstore mascara, of course, didn’t know where to start. At the time it was just after Christmas and there were a few Christmas sets on sale. I’d been thinking of trying a few things from Soap & Glory so when I saw the set was on sale and there was a mascara and an eyeliner in it I was sold!
I ended up not trying the mascara for a few months because I’ve been trying to use up a product before moving onto the next. I’m still going strong with this! I hadn’t heard anything about the Soap & Glory mascara so didn’t know what to expect. As it was a gift set I couldn’t actually see what the wand would be like or the eyeliner, which was funny coz I can be SUPER fuzzy about them. I realise now I could have just gone down to the stand.
Shockingly enough, when Jarek was in Poland he picked me up a few bits. I know, I know, I couldn’t believe it either.
When I first got into blogging he was really supportive and not only helped me build my blog and logo, but also started helping with research.
One resource was a Bobbie Brown book which I loved and to this day cherish (well kinda, it’s in my mother’s house somewhere at the moment). Even though I loved the book I never ever bought any of the products. Not because I didn’t like them, but to be honest after talking to the sales reps at home in Dublin, I was made feel like it wasn’t a makeup brand for me.
Well to my surprise, Jarek came home with a bag of goodies and this little beauty was in it.
I love mascara, but never invest in expensive ones because I’ve found the ones in the “drugstore” to be great!
This might be a game changer though!
Mascara is the bane of my life!! I’ve been searching for my ride or die for years! Over this time I have found many, but every time they become discontinued. Its one of the most frustrating things!
I’m yet to find my latest ride or die, but never the less I’m here to chat about yet another mascara!
Barry M is one of my favourite drugstore brands. I adore their nail paint and have dipped in and out of a few other products. I’m a sucker for their packaging and their mascara packaging always speaks to me. This time was no different.
You would never think it, but purple is my favourite colour! So even though there are a good few to choose from the purple one was the 1st one I went for (there was no rose gold one at this stage).
There were no testers so I had no idea what the wond would be like, but was pleasantly surprised! It has what I can a hedgehog wond. Meaning it’s stiff with largish stiff bristles. I find this style easier to manage and gives my lashes more definition.
This wand is actually quite cool, its kinda double sided. It has a “normal” side and a shorter side. I know that sounds so odd, but its actually quite useful. I use the “normal” side on my top lashes and the shorter side for my bottom lashes.
The mascara itself is fine, really good actually. It applies to the lashes well, coats them, lengthens them, but it is a small bit clumpy when I apply it fast. The wear is great too! It lasts AMAZINGLY well all day with absolutely no smudging. I’ve also had quite an emotional few months and spent most days crying and it doesn’t budge. I do find it a bit heavy on the lashes though and it is (for me) a nightmare to get off no matter what I use! Its there days later and I’ve hurt my eye trying to scrub it off!
There are a number of positives about this mascara that will defiantly have me reaching for it again, but due to the heaviness on the lashes and the fact I can’t get it off it’s not my ride of die, so my search continues.
I’m still on the hunt for a mascara that I can’t live without. Today we are talking WetnWild waterproof mascara. And I’m loving it!!
Ok so first off I’m loving the packaging, the fact that it’s my favourite colour is a plus and I like it’s clean crisp lines and lettering. This of course has no effect on whether the product works well of not but for me it’s something I tend to factor in when purchasing, OCD and all… The price is very affordable too. I think it comes in about like €4. #Bargain
Mascara is something I feel that most of us could not live without. A couple of weeks ago @BeautyHourIE asked us on twitter “if stranded on a desert island what three things would you take”. Mascara was a top one!
Mascara is definitely one thing I use every single day of my life. I’ve been trying out loads to see what I like the best, expensive ones, cheap ones, crap ones and run of the mill.
