Halo Face MakeUp Remover Skincare

Halo Face | MagpieMagpie Skincare

Halo Face “cloth” is a game changer! You might remember from my new years resolutions I was keen to cut down on waste and be better for the environment.

My first port of call was cotton wool! I changed to the boots organic range which I was happy with but felt I was using so much of it!

Enter Annie with her fantastic skincare finds!

Annie, is a friend from my old job, who was very kind and got me a few ‘sorry your leaving’ gifts and in this delightful collection were the Halo Face. They were something I’d never heard of, but literally the perfect gift, thanks Annie!

Basically you add water and it wipes off all your makeup! Sounds too good to be true right… I thought to myself, they must be full of chemicals, I’ll have to replace them all the time, they won’t do what they say they can. Well how wrong I was!

They are great! You can use them with warm or cold water, but for me using cold water just didn’t feel right. So warm water it was. I just wiped it over my face like a cotton pad and watch the magic happen. They are so impressive. The best part is you are not using unnecessary chemicals of your skin AND after use you just pop them in the washing machine (with light colours… unfortunately one of mine is now grey 🙁 ) ready to reuse again and again.

Here’s a little blurb from their website that explains how they work :

Face Halo works with either cold or warm water. The water loosens your makeup allowing the HaloTech fiber strands (which are 100 times finer than a human hair) to reach deep into your pores to remove and trap makeup, giving your skin a healthy and invigorating clean in half the time. Check out how using only water with the Halotech fibers compares to other removal methods at The Halo Effect

It’s just clever. And so easy.

You don’t need to rub or scrub. Simply wet your Face Halo and gently wipe off makeup. You’ll be surprised how much makeup comes off on your Face Halo. This is because the HaloTech fibers hold onto it and ensure nothing goes back onto your face. We like using the clean side of the Face Halo to check all your makeup is off. And for heavier eye makeup, we suggest you rehydrate your Face Halo well (with water) and hold it on the eyes or eyelashes and chant Halo, Halo, Halo 6 times, then remove.

It just helps. (And promotes peace on earth 🙂

Throw Face Halo in with your white/light color wash and another miracle will occur. Angelic Face Halo reappears – fresh and ready to use again and again. It can be washed around 200 times! For some stubborn makeup residue you might want to handwash your Face Halo with soap and warm water first then throw into the washing machine. Important: Please don’t use Fabric Softener when washing as it will leave a coating that will reduce the effectiveness of the HaloTech fibers. More at Face Halo Care.

So Fresh. Still plush!

They are also amazing for traveling. I had a lot of traveling back and forth to the UK for training with only a carry on luggage and these little beauties were a lifesaver! I had extra space for other toiletries and didn’t have to worry about spillages. If for nothing else I HIGHLY recommend them for traveling!

They come in a pack of three, which  for the average person should be perfect but for someone like me, who wears a lot of makeup, six would be ideal. Annie ordered mine from FILL IN and she was happy with the shopping experience, I’ll keep you updated on my own experience ordering from this site! I still use cotton wool for doing nails, but since using the Face Halo’s I’ve saved mula and feel better about the fact I’m not wasting as much.

Have you tried Face Halo’s? Do you think you’ll be replacing your traditional cotton wool and cleanser or face wipes? Let me know in the comments below.

Till next week,

Five Winter Skincare You Need In Your Life ||

Hi Lovelies, sorry I haven’t been on here in a while. I hope you’ve all been keeping well and that 2018 is being good to you. x

This week its all about my winter skincare essentials. I hope you enjoy x

Skincare is a big part of my life but more often than not I don’t spend a huge amount on it.

However over the past few years there are some skincare items that I’m more than happy to spend the money on. Here are my top five!

1. Clarins Hand Cream

I love this stuff all year round, but when the winter time comes my hands are in much need of moisture. I’ve used a number of hand creams over the years but this has to be my tried and tested. It is expensive, BUT it is a large tube and a little goes a long way! I tend to use about a pea (or smarties) sized amount each time, an almond size amount if I’ve had a cleaning frenzy! I’m not super keen on strong smelling hand creams as sometimes it can bring on a migraine, so this one is perfect for me! It has a slight scent, but its more like a “natural” cream scent. It absorbs really well, doesn’t leave a residue, and leaves my hands super moisturised and soft! It claims to also help with age spots and strengthen nails, I can’t vouch for these claims so I’ll leave it here.

This hand cream for me is the one to beat so if there is a hand cream you love, let me know in the comments below. I’m always on the hunt for new products!

2. Clarins Instant Light Natural Lip Perfector

Again I use this all year round but with all the air conditioning and the cold air my lips are begging for it. I use lipstick during the day,  but by the time I get home my lips are in desperate need of some hydration. Continue Reading

Acne Skincare Super Facialist

Super Facialist || Rose Miracle Makeover Facial Oil

Winter is officially here, and it’s about this time every year I do the change over, mainly clothes but this year I’ve added in some skincare bits too.

Today its all about the Una Brennan facial oil. There is a myth that people with oily skin shouldn’t use oils but thats a lie. My advice is to use them sparingly.

I have no idea why but I love the Super Facialist packaging, they make my (horrible) bathroom cabinet look so pretty and like a spa. I’m addicted and always want to try something new. This product is a 30ml bottle and has a very convenient pump, you can clearly see the golden colour in the bottle which I find quite pleasing to the eye.

I tend to use this product once a week after a long relaxing shower. I have a whole pamper routine organised and it features this delightful oil.

I follow the instructions (kind of) and pump out a generous amount (about 2 pumps) and worm it through my hands. Then when I feel the temperature is right I gently apply to my face and neck. The feeling of this is just divine, and instantly puts me in a better mood. It feels so lux and nourishing.  Continue Reading

Acne Simple Skincare

Micellar Cleansing Water || Simple

Simple is a brand I go back to time and time again. Its odd because it’s not my favourite skincare, but if I’m in a pinch it’s the one I always go back to as it never fails me.

I’ve been using their micellar water on and off for a while now, so I thought it was about time I told you guys what I think of it! As we all know I love me a good micellar water, and as I’m keen on simple, I was keen to try this one.

Simple are known for being “sensitive skin experts”, it states it on their packaging, which is great for me and my skin can be very temperamental.

The packaging stays true to the Simple look, I like that is has this kind of sand blasted look. It makes it stand out from the crowd a bit.

The bottle is a good size(200ml) and the price isn’t too bad either, coming it at £4.94. Boots often do deals on it too, so I always try to keep an eye out!

Like with all Simple products, there is not much of a smell. It has a hint of something, but not that artificial smell you can get with some skincare. I know strange because there are so many things that make me want to love this product, but I can’t say it’s going to be one for the Ride Or Die pile. Continue Reading

Acne Skincare Super Facialist

Super Facialist by Una Brennan || MagpieMagpie

I’ve always loved skincare, but over the last couple of years I’ve become more confident in my choices. If you’ve been over to my YouTube channel you’ll know that this year I aim to make more of an effort to share what I use on my skin and how.
One brand I’ve been loving over the past 6 months is The Superfacialist by Una Brennan. I have no idea what made me buy it, or even take a chance on new skincare as I hardly ever change what I use. In the past I’ve had some HORROR stories, but as of late my skin has been “good” and I was in the market to try something new.
I was in boots on the hunt when I spotted a new product that was on special. The Superfacilist range by Una Brennan. There is a great selection of products for all skin types, but of course I was attracted straight away to the Salicylic Acid Anti Blemish!
I really liked their packaging too. It’s white, which I usually try to stay away from coz I get makeup EVERYWHERE but, its that type of plastic that can be easily wiped clean. There something about the clean, clear and crisp lettering I really like too.
The product is a clear gel with not very much fragrance, it does smell but I can’f really figure out what it smells like.  I love the lack of a strong smell coz my nose can be very fussy, if it doesn’t like the smell it seems to get stuck in there and can give me a migraine! So yea, I like the smell / not strong smell!
It lathers up well and leave my pre-cleansed skin spotless!
I don’t ever just wash my face, I always pre-cleanse! After I’ve removed as much of my make-up as I can, I wet my face and lather up about a pea sized amount of the facewash and then just go crazy! It desolves away anything that is left of my face (except any barry m mascara, they are a nightmare to get off!) I love the feeling when I use it and I LOVE how my skin feels after it. It leaves my skin so soft and smooth and it just feels amazing. I can for 100% say that it helps with my acne. My blemishes clear up much faster and don’t seem to be as aggressive.
All I can say is I’m so glad I reached for these products and they will 100% be a staple in my skincare routine. As Ive said before I have very sensitive skin and now that I’m on the Minocycline again it tend to be even more sensitive, but my skin just loves this product. If like me you have adult acne I’d encourage you to at least try out this product. It comes in just under £10, I tend to get mine in Boots, but sometimes if you are lucky they can be on special.
Let me know if you’ve tried out any of the Super Facialist stuff and what you thought! Or even if there is a product you think I’d like that I may not have tried before.

The Body Shop: Tea Tree Skin Clearing Toner

Let’s talk toner. Toner is a crucial step in my fight against acne. The one I’m using at the moment is The Body Shop: Tea Tree Skin Clearing Toner. It comes in a 250ml bottle which usually lasts me about 3-4 months depending on how sparingly I use it. It smell like tea tree, it’s a water consistency with a sort of clay like substance at the bottom that you must shake in before use, the texture then changes to a sort of foam; and finally it’s green in colour.
