You have heard how I got myself ready for the Into The West Bloggers Networking now hear how I got on… As it was my first ever bloggers event I didn’t really know what to expect. The event itself is created by two amazing Irish blogger Sinéad and Saibh so I knew it would be good, but I had no clue who would be there, what the talks would be about and what the room would look like. The location was Galway in the Radisson Blu hotel. It was the perfect spot as we just got off the bus and walked about 5mins and was there, that was especially good as the fog was ridiculous and you couldn’t see much so I didn’t want to be wondering around in that. The event started at 1.30 and for the first time in my life I wasn’t nervous, I was awkward as F**K of course, as odd as it is to say out loud I’m not used to mixing with people in a social environment anymore. But there was no nerves, this may have been because I had connected with a few going on the bus through the ITWBN facebook page. I had met two lovely ladies Karine Keogh and Jen Morris on the bus and both were really chatty and we got on well so the time flew on the bus. On entering the event they had pink drinks (no idea what they were but they were delicious) and MACAROONS!!!! I love macaroons so I was happy out, I think I may have pushed people out of the way to get to them. Oops! The room was set up beautifully. There were different tables that had their own names and goodies every were! I was at the Atherry Castle table. I wasn’t at the same table as my bus buddies so i had a new group to meet. Most people were wondering around talking photos and chatting but I felt a bit over whelmed and had spotted the goddie bag with my name badge on it so I just rooted like a good woman! It was amazing and actually then gave me something to talk about as I seemed to have been the only one to be shameful enough to rummage. Eventually most people sat down and everyone started introducing themselves. All the girls were lovely, most had been to the event before and were really welcoming and friendly. I took some video as apposed to taking photos because my equipment isn’t very good.
There were goodies every where and more MACAROONS, I thought I’d died and gone to heaven. I of course am meant to be on the low GI diet but sure I never get the opportunity to go to this type of thing so I was gona enjoy it; and by enjoy I mean stuff my face!! Don’t actually think I took a photo of the macaroons. Was too busy putting them in my face with both hands. ha!
Saibh was up first to talk, just to welcome us and introduce the guest speakers. The first to speak was Maricka from OMIG who spoke about SEO. I had no idea about this because Jarek usually does all that. After the talk I did think I need to get more involved with this! Then to talk was Irish vlogger Siobhan from Letz Makeup. I never realised there where so many amazing bloggers out there, I only really know the Dublin ones and thinking of it I’ve no idea how I even found them, so I’ve loads of new blogs to read and get inspired by. Siobhan is one of the top three youtubers in Ireland and her career before vlogging was a very impressive make-up artist, she still does some freelance work. I like to start at the beginning of the journey so I’ve started by watching her first video till the latest. I like to do it this way so I can see the progression and how they grew and developed.
We had a brake for food and to mingle. I was sitting between Susan from Makeup By Rubysue and Ruth from The Beauty Kemple they had been to this event a few times and were great fun. We took photos and chatted. It was great to be there and I just felt so welcome and had so much fun. I also had a look at the stands that were there. I of course was straight over to the Jewellery. I got the most perfect ring I actually couldn’t believe it! It was oxides, which is my ultimate favourite metal look, the stone matched the nail varnish I had on and the stones around matched the bracelet that I had made myself. Where did I get this magical ring? Cotton Face of course! They have amazing things so I’ll defiantly be getting a few more pieces from them!!
The break was followed by more talks, I don’t have any photos but I have a few clips that once I get organised I’ll add that in. Richie from BEUTiFi spoke to us about their website that will make it easier to book appointments online. No more calling and telling the whole world I need a wax, woohoo ha ha! Up next was the charmer extraordinaire Galway Player he spoke about Twitter and how he uses it to his advantage and how interacting with other bloggers and people you like to follow can be really effective in helping generate more followers, of course his delivery of all this information was priceless! He also spoke a little bit about the negative side of putting yourself out there with a blog and how it makes people feel entitled to attack you personally, comes with the territory it seems. The final talker of the day was the lovely Kate from Cocoa Brown. She spoke to us about the amazing brand that is Cocoa Brown and how you should go about approaching companies from a PR angle. With every speaker I got really good hits a tips and can’t wait to put all my new knowledge into play.
Then it was all over… We had more time to chat and mingle. I got to meet my Irish Bloggers Secret Santa A Modern Mommy’s World and the beautiful and talented href=”http://thebeautifultruth.ie/” target=”_blank”>The Beautiful Truth. There were lots of amazing prizes to be won but unfortunately lady luck was not on my side at this event. Not to worry though.
It was an amazing experience, I would highly recommend going to anything like this, the atmosphere was amazing. It was such a positive experience with amazing energy and wonderful new friends. I can’t wait for the next one were I hope to meet Sinead who couldn’t be there due to a bereavement in the family. They both did such an amazing job and I’m just so glad I could be apart of it.
