I’ve been meaning to write this review for a long time! I’ve been distracted by all the make-up, so today we are doing it! We are chatting about something a little bit different this week.
If you are new to my blog you may not know that I suffer from anxiety! It’s something I’ve struggled with for a very long time, and to be honest it’s something I think I tried to bury, I think I was in denial for a very long time. Recently I’ve began to accept every part of me and deal with it head on. Anyway long story short I decided to take action and I said that 2015 was my year to jump at the chance for all new experiences!
I follow Nautilus Beauty & Holistic on social media and I happened to notice a post on their instagram that they were looking for volunteer patients for reflexology. My sister had mentioned reflexology to me before and thought it might be great for me but I was always quite reluctant, I’ve had massage before and each time had quite a strong, bad reaction! I was nervous but just decided I’d try it. I made contact and booked in for a session a week for four weeks.
Nautilus is a beauty and holistic therapies centre situated in Fairview, they offer a range of services including massage, beauty, and a wide range of classes and workshops. I was welcomed by Jenny and brought into a really nice treatment room. Our first session was the longest, there was paperwork to fill out so they first session is always the longest. The paperwork is quite general, just medical things and then just a little bit about you, your background all that! I had a glass of water while I was there, it was their inspirational flavours that had me trying my own at home.
After all that I had to remove my shoes and get comfortable on the “table”. I’m not great with people touching me, I tend to be very jumpy and very ticklish and that’s not even my feet so I just tried not to think about it.
So basically reflexology is kinda like a foot massage. They use the pressure point in your feet to relieve tension and can learn a lot about what might be effecting you inside your body though your feet. I feel asleep most times about half way through, I often felt a little twinge or pressure in some places and always without a doubt after the treatment was really thirsty and had to pee like never before. I often felt lightheaded and usually tired, so personally I tried not to do much after! Just once I ended up getting a migraine but not a huge one.
I found the reflexology amazing for my anxiety, it was the perfect time for me to try it as I was very stressed at the time. I felt due to the calming effect of the reflexology I was able to keep level headed and stay calm in this very stressful time in my life. It helped with my panic attacks and just gave me that time I needed to asses myself and really think clearly about what I wanted in my future.
If you suffer from anxiety of depression I 100% would suggest booking in for a reflexology session.
