Gelly Hi Shine Lip Crayon || Barry M

Since 2014 I’ve become obsessed with lippie, so much so that some might even say it’s my signature look, and that I have a problem…

As you probably know over Christmas last year I loved the Barry M Lip Crayon, but really wasn’t impressed with the packaging. I’m terrible like that, I could love a product and if the packaging is crap I just can’t get past it.

I’d been eyeing up the Gelly Hi Shine crayons for a while, but for some reason never took the plunge. In January the plunge was taken and I was not disappointed.

From the first application I was in love! The scent… we need to talk about the scent. It’s like sweets and chocolate and all the good stuff!! As a sugar monster I couldn’t resist. Currently I only have two shades I’m not going to lie I have no idea which ones they are coz it’s not written on them.

I decided to pop onto the Boots website to see if I could do a bit of a Sherlock job.

I’m gona guess that the red berry colour I have is Vega Cherry Red; it’s an educated guess that brings me back to the scent, Smells like Cherry!!! I’m all about the sweet and fruity scent; oddly I was unaware of this fantastical scent until I put it on my lips. Not only was it fabulous on the lip, but also it smelt delish so it was a weeener!! As with all my products I want them to be quick and easy. I likes my sleep!! I don’t often have time to faff about with lip primer, liner and what ever else other people put on their lips, I just want a quick and easy application that helps me look polished and put together with little of no effort. I like the red colour so much I decided I’d try out the nudish brown. This one smelt chocolatier, I’m an actual chocoholic so even if it looked like shite on (which it didn’t) it still would have been a winner.

I was much more impressed with the packaging of these, looks a bit more expensive than its plastic counter part. It’s like a proper pencil that needs to be paired once it’s ran out. The finish and the colour matching of the packaging to the product is always a good choice in my eyes. I pear it, I apply it, and I enjoy!

It’s not the most long lasting lip product, but considering its price point, £4, like I mean ye can’t expect bloody miracles. It’s a funny one coz its borderline, it’s not a lip balm, nor is it a lipstick, its bang in the middle.  My local boots only have a very small selection of Barry M product, this is the only reason I haven’t tried more.

I find it so upsetting when I order online and they arrive and I’ve got the colours all wrong. Like you could do a bit more research yea, but I just find that so tedious. I’m a lazy frustrated Dyslexic so if there’s a lot of writing I just get pure fucked off and give up. I defo think I’ll be on the look out for more colour options in bigger boots store!
