Lately I’m all about the primers. Anything that can prolong my make-up and do others modern day miracles like cover redness, minimise pores, and mattify… I’m all over that shit!! NYX has always been a favourite of mine, I love their lip glosses and blushes. So I was keen to try out a few more bits. On the hit list was the NYX Pore Filler. I have, what I think are, really large pores and anything I can do to try and mask that I’m all about.
Since moving to Jersey I’ve been more aware of FeelUnique and when I saw they would be stocking NYX, lets just say I was rather excited!! I actually hate ordering online, but as I may have mentioned before Jersey isn’t great when it comes to stocking drugstore make-up. So I bit the bullet and ordered a few bits. The Pore Filler primer was one of the items. I had heard lots about pore filling primer and wasn’t sure what to expect to be honest. I wasn’t sure if it would actually work, if I’d even like it, what the texture would be like, nothing. I just said I’d roll with it and sure “try it out for the blog”, I’ve have said this for the last year and have not blogged about half the items so this is why I keep saying I’m on a make up buying ban!! Anyway I bought this many moons ago so its about time I reviewed it.
It came in a neat box and inside was a sleek white tube. The product is quite thick and, I wana say sort of gritty looking, with a pale pink/peach colour, that is really thick. I tend to apply it with clean hands. I have applied it with a old flat brush style foundation brush which works good too, but as I’m all about the time saving I tend to apply it with the aul handies! I find it best if I glide it over the skin, sort of make it sit on the skin as apposed to rubbing it in, not sure that makes sense but I can do a YouTube tutorial using this so you can see what I mean, just let me know…
I leave it to soak into the skin a bit and straight away I see it mattifying my face. It can be worn alone or even over make up, this never works out for me so I stick to its original job. I’m not 100% sure if its my imagination or not, but it does even out the skin tone and minimise the look of pores.
My skin has been all over the place the past few months so it has put this primer through its paces. Sometimes it works amazing and I’m like this is the best thing to happen to my face, and then other days I’m like WTF was I thinking. I will say that a few of the foundations that I’ve use with it did not work very well at all and I was very disappointed. I can’t for sure say it was just my mad skin or if it actually just doesn’t work well with some. My advice would be just to trying it out and monitor it. Yes that’s head recking but its the only solution.
Once I found one or two that worked well I was really pleased with the results. It help my make up looking smooth and even all day. Even thought it did an amazing job of mattifying my face the second I applied it, this didn’t last all day. My skin seemed a bit oilier than usual and my powder didn’t work as well as usual, it seem a bit more caky once it touch the oil.
I wish I had a definitive answer as to whether or not I like this product, but I’m soooo unsure. I would definitely purchase it again and see how I get on in a couple of months. You might see it on my YouTube channel featured in my monthly favourites in a few months ha ha. I will for sure be trying out other pore filler primers. Watch this space…
