YSL Palette Collector Kiss And Love Edition

Ok so I know what I’m reviewing today is soooo old now, but I was just in my local boots and they still had them so I wanted to give my two cents.

I’m not hugly into high end makeup. I love the idea of it of course, but I just can never justify spending that much money on them. As always I’m sure this will change of course, especially now that I’ve dipped my toe in.

So… at Christmas YSL brought out a limited eddition Palette Collector Kiss And Love Edition range. I lost my shit over it! It was so beautiful I decided I had to have it! I thought I was quite clear in letting everyone know (meaning Jarek) that I’d love love love it for Christmas, but of course he never got the hint. We do however have to bear in mind that I was rather demanding this Christmas so I’d asked for a lot. Anywho, I felt rather hard done by for like a min and then actually forgot all about the collection.

Around valentines day I was pottering around feel unique (they have a shop here in JerseyCI) and past the YSL counter and actually let out a squeal, an actual noticable one that was so loud people turned to look who the squeal came from. Not only did they have the Palette, but it was on SALE!!! I took a photo sent it to Jarek and demanded he get it for me for Valentines day. To my surprise I not only got the palette, but a powder and a nail varnish too. I’ll do a review on those at a later stage and link them HERE & HERE.

Even thought I really wanted the palette once I got it I felt like it was just too nice to use. I tortured myself for ages, but when my trip to Portugal came about I thought it would be perfect. I was actually super excited to use it. I chose to use it for my holiday as it meant I would have less to pack, I needed to keep it as minimal as possible coz I only had carry on luggage.
Lets talk about the packaging first! Can we all just take a moment to take in its beauty. It’s covered in a sort of leather type material in yellow gold and on the front it has the YSL logo with lots of lovely lips on it. The locking system is magnetized so it’s super sleek and there is this “safety catch” type thing that just give me piece of mind really, not sure it’s that important. When you open it there is a really nice high quality on the left hand side and on the other side is a carefully selected palette with the following: (i stole this info from the boots wedsite) Eyes: 4 couture shadows. A profound, dazzling black, an iridescent bronze, a shimmery gold and a silver highlighter. Cheeks: a fresh, delicate pink blush for an instant glow. Lips: a pop duo composed of a glossy pink Rouge Volupté Sheer Candy and Rouge Pur Couture Fuschia. I really enjoyed the colour selection of the eyeshadows, they have a lovely light shimmer to them and they are a really wearable range of colours. The cheek shade is the perfect shade for me and was really pretty for the holiday. Very natural. The lip shades are just ok, but the texture on is lovely and moisturising. They wear very well. I’m not mad on the pink, as you know its not exactly my colour, but it works well when I wanted the centre to be a bit lighter so I could make it look like I actually have lips. There are also three brushes, but there nothing to write home about. Like they’d do in an emergency.
As I said above in my local boots they still have a few left of this exact palette. I knoe not every where will so I also found this one which has very similar colours, but different packaging I’ll leave a link HERE and HERE. I have a number of images on my instagram with this palette on my face, but I’d like to play around with it a bit more and I’ll take some better shots and add them in.
I know it’s a bit annoying chatting about a product that isn’t exactly available any more, but you’ll have to get used to that coz that just how I roll!!
I’m definitely converted to this brand so if there is a product that you can’t live without let me know!
